The trail becomes steeper and more rugged as you ascend along ridges with dramatic scenery and spectacular views of Kibo Peak. This section of the route is physically demanding but highly rewarding due to its untouched landscapes and quieter trails compared to other Kilimanjaro routes. During the trek, enjoy lunch surrounded by giant groundsels and volcanic formations unique to the mountain. After approximately 5–6 hours of hiking, arrive at Barranco Camp located beneath the impressive Barranco Wall at 3,950m. The camp offers breathtaking sunset views and excellent opportunities for photography. Spend the evening resting, hydrating, and preparing for the following day’s climb.

Although steep in some areas, the climb is manageable with guidance from experienced mountain guides. After reaching the top, enjoy magnificent panoramic views of glaciers, valleys, and surrounding peaks. The trail then continues through rolling alpine terrain with several ascents and descents before reaching Karanga Camp at 4,035m. The hike takes approximately 4–5 hours and allows additional time for acclimatization at high altitude. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and relax while admiring the dramatic mountain scenery. Day 4: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

After breakfast, continue trekking toward Barafu Camp through barren alpine desert terrain. The landscape becomes increasingly rocky and dry as vegetation disappears almost completely. The route gradually ascends with spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks dominating the horizon. This hike takes around 4–5 hours and is intentionally shorter to allow climbers time to rest before summit night. Upon reaching Barafu Camp at approximately 4,640m, enjoy an early hot meal and spend time preparing your summit gear including warm layers, headlamp, gloves, and snacks. Your guide will conduct a final briefing and safety check before the overnight ascent. Rest is essential, as climbers usually begin the summit attempt shortly before midnight under cold and windy conditions.

Around midnight, begin the challenging ascent toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895m. The trail climbs slowly over volcanic scree toward Stella Point before continuing along the crater rim to the summit. Reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise provides unforgettable views above the clouds, surrounding glaciers, and the vast African plains below. After celebrating and taking photographs, descend carefully back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and meal before continuing down through alpine terrain toward Mweka Camp. This demanding day may take 10–14 hours in total and requires both determination and endurance. Upon arrival at Mweka Camp in the forest zone, enjoy a well-deserved dinner and rest after successfully summiting Mount Kilimanjaro.
