Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp

Today’s trek is shorter and designed to support acclimatization while crossing the scenic Shira Plateau. After breakfast, continue through open moorland terrain with magnificent views of Kibo Peak and distant mountain landscapes. The trail is relatively gentle, allowing climbers to walk slowly and comfortably while adjusting to the altitude. Along the way, your guide will explain the unique ecology and volcanic history of Mount Kilimanjaro. The hike takes approximately 3–4 hours before reaching Shira 2 Camp at 3,850m. After lunch, there is time for a short acclimatization walk to a slightly higher elevation before returning to camp. Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

This important acclimatization day follows the “climb high, sleep low” principle. After breakfast, trek steadily toward Lava Tower at 4,630m through alpine desert terrain with rocky volcanic landscapes and minimal vegetation. The high-altitude environment provides excellent acclimatization benefits while offering spectacular mountain scenery. After lunch near Lava Tower, descend gradually toward Barranco Camp located beneath the impressive Barranco Wall. The descent allows your body to recover from the higher altitude while improving adaptation for summit day. The trek takes approximately 6–7 hours in total and includes stunning views of glaciers, valleys, and towering cliffs. Upon arrival at Barranco Camp at 3,950m, enjoy dinner and rest while surrounded by some of Kilimanjaro’s most dramatic scenery.

Accommodation: Barranco Camp

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

The day begins with the exciting ascent of the famous Barranco Wall. Although steep in certain sections, the climb is manageable and rewarding with assistance from experienced guides. Upon reaching the top, enjoy magnificent panoramic views of glaciers, valleys, and volcanic peaks. The route then continues through rolling alpine terrain featuring several ascents and descents before arriving at Karanga Camp at 4,035m. The hike takes approximately 4–5 hours and provides additional acclimatization time at high altitude. Along the trail, admire the unique mountain vegetation and breathtaking scenery that make the Lemosho Route one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful paths. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the ascent to base camp on the following day.

Accommodation: Karanga Camp

Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

After breakfast, continue trekking toward Barafu Camp through barren alpine desert terrain. The landscape becomes increasingly rocky and dry as vegetation disappears almost completely. The trail ascends steadily with breathtaking views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks dominating the horizon. The hike takes approximately 4–5 hours and is intentionally shorter to allow climbers adequate rest before summit night. Upon arrival at Barafu Camp at around 4,640m, enjoy an early dinner and prepare summit gear including warm clothing, gloves, snacks, and headlamp. Your guide will conduct a detailed summit briefing and safety check before the overnight climb begins. Rest is essential, as climbers usually depart around midnight for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.

Accommodation: Barafu Camp

Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Shortly after midnight, begin the challenging ascent toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895m. Trek slowly uphill across volcanic scree toward Stella Point before continuing along the crater rim to the summit. Reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise is an unforgettable achievement with panoramic views above the clouds, surrounding glaciers, and vast African plains below. After taking photographs and celebrating, descend carefully back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and meal before continuing toward Mweka Camp through alpine and forest zones. This demanding trekking day may take 10–14 hours in total and requires determination and endurance. Upon arrival at Mweka Camp, enjoy dinner and well-deserved rest after successfully conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha

After breakfast, complete the final descent through lush rainforest toward Mweka Gate. Upon arrival at the gate, climbers receive official summit certificates before celebrating with guides, porters, and fellow climbers. Enjoy lunch before transferring back to Arusha for a relaxing evening at the hotel.
